The Royals recalled Mitch Maier from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View:Maier replaces Alex Gordon on Kansas City's roster after Gordon landed on the DL with a right hip labral cartilage tear. Maier has hit .370 through six games in the minors thus far and could see a bit of time in right field, where Willie Bloomquist currently resides, until Jose Guillen returns from the DL. Still, Maier is not worth any sort of attention in fantasy leagues.

Mitch Maier has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha by the Royals, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Maier hit .286 over 91 at-bats in 2008, but collected no homers or stolen bases. He would not have held much fantasy value if he made the Royals as a backup outfielder.
September 13, 2008
Mitch Maier returned to the Royals' lineup Saturday after recovering from facial fractures, according to the KC Star. He started both games of the doubleheader against the Indians in center field.

Our View:Maier held a solid .339 batting average heading into tonight, but will split time with Joey Gathright in the outfield, and may not see enough action over the final two weeks to make a favorable fantasy impact.
September 12, 2008
Mitch Maier has been activated from the DL according to the AP. He had been recovering from facial fractures.

Our View:Maier will split time with Joey Gathright as he makes his case that he can play in the bigs. He was hitting .339 in 56 at bats before getting hurt. Regardless, he does not figure to hold much fantasy value the rest of the way.
September 5, 2008
Mitch Maier, who is recovering from facial fractures, participated in on-field activities prior to Thursday's game against Cleveland, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:He has a good shot to return to the Royals' lineup as soon as next weekend. Maier is worth waiting for, as he holds a .339 average over 56 at-bats.
