Player Notes
March 31, 2009
David Pauley has cleared waivers with the Orioles and the club outrighted him to Triple-A Norfolk, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Pauley was unable to earn a rotation spot out of spring training, but could be back at some point during the season if he pitches well in the minors.
March 24, 2009
The Orioles have ruled out pitcher David Pauley for a spot in the starting rotation to open 2009. "There are other guys ahead of him right now," manager Dave Trembley informs the Baltimore Sun. "I would highly doubt he'll get another start."

Our View:The Orioles are now down to Hayden Penn, Adam Eaton, Mark Hendrickson, Brian Bass, Alfredo Simon, and Danys Baez for three rotation spots. Yuck. Pauley would be wise to accept a move to Triple-A. If he pitches well there, he could easily earn a call later in the season.
February 25, 2009
David Pauley struggled in today's 9-3 loss to the Mets, as he issued four earned runs on five hits over one third of an inning, with one walk and no strikeouts.

Our View:Pauley struggled with the Red Sox last season, and today's dismal outing could push him back in his fight for a rotation spot with Baltimore.

David Pauley has been dealt from the Red Sox to the Orioles in exchange for reliever Randor Bierd, according to MASN Sports.

Our View:Pauley has struggled with the Red Sox and was unlikely to crack their deep and talented rotation in 2009. The Orioles are in need of pitching, and Pauley will have a better shot to compete for a rotation spot.
January 13, 2009
The Red Sox designated David Pauley for assignment Tuesday. He held an ugly 11.68 ERA in six games (two starts) for the Sox last year.

Our View:Pauley has struggled in his stints in Boston over the last three years, and he doesn't have good stuff. However, he had a nice year in Triple-A and is still only 25, so he'll get a change somewhere.
