Running backs Kenneth Darby, Chris Ogbonnaya and Keith Toston are all candidates for release this weekend, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:None of the three have established themselves as Steven Jackson's primary back-up this preseason, meaning St. Louis could decide to just go with the youngest and cheapest option. For the moment, Ogbonnaya seems like the least likely to get released.

Kenneth Darby has re-signed with the Rams, according to Howard Balzer's twitter page. He was an exclusive rights free agent.

Our View:Darby looked good last season, as he averaged 5.6 yards over 27 carries. He is capable of solid production, but his fantasy stock will remain limited while serving as a backup behind stud Steven Jackson.

Kenneth Darby (swollen knee) is not expected to play in the team's third preseason game this Thursday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Darby is battling Samkon Gado to be Steven Jackson's back-up this season. He has just 46 yards on 12 carries this preseason, while Gado has 98 on 18.

Kenneth Darby was taking snaps with the Rams' third team offense on Monday after a dreadful performance in the team's first preseason game last week, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:That performance was six carries for only 16 yards (2.7 yards per carry). His competition, Antonio Pittman and Samkon Gado, both averaged over nine yards per carry, and were taking the snaps with the Rams first and second teamers on Monday. The battle to be Steven Jackson's backup is far from over, but don't count on Darby to win it.

Kenneth Darby, who was attempting to fill the shoes of the injured Steven Jackson (thigh), was benched after his second lost fumble in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Jets, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He said, "I was just a little too eager to make something happen. Hey, I can only blame myself. Technique-wise, I was horrible with it carrying the ball."

Our View:This is unfortunate for fantasy owners who picked him up during the week off the waiver wire, as he broke loose for 32 yards on four carries against a strong Jets' run defense prior to getting benched.
